Susanna Edwards

Physiotherapist & Movement Specialist

Registered member Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Susanna is a physiotherapist based in Ayrshire and has been practicing since 2004 both privately and in the NHS. She has also previously worked at Carrick Glen Hospital.

Susanna believes that movement is integral to your quality of life, but that the challenges that each person has are unique. She adopts a personal approach, where the therapy, exercises and advice given are tailored to each individual. Personal goals are always discussed and are paramount to a useful outcome. Susanna has a passion to ‘get to the core’ of the problem.

Susanna practices a hands on therapy called myofascial release, which works gently with the tissues of the body to allow a release of tension and promote movement where that is needed.  It is a very gentle and effective technique and suitable for the vast majority of people. Susanna is studying at present towards a Diploma in Integrated Myofascial Therapy with Myofascial Release UK.

She has trained with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) in ‘modified’ Pilates, where the exercises have been adapted from the classical pilates concept to be suitable, safe and effective for those with some pain / stiffness or injuries to be able to do. She teaches participants to activate core and postural muscles and to strengthen, tone and stretch your whole body in a balanced and functional way, with gentle, yet effective exercises.

Susanna also teaches ‘Restorative Movement’ within both her classes and physiotherapy sessions. The aim of this is to return the body towards its ideal alignment. The exercises are simple, targeted and effective at making changes towards better posture and better overall health. This concept is from Katy Bowman’s ‘Nutritious Movement’ and Susanna is currently studying towards certification in teaching this.
